2008 - Series 6

Strictly Come Dancing returned for its sixth series on 20 September 2008 on BBC One. Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly returned as co-presenters of the main show on BBC One, while Claudia Winkleman returned to present the spin-off show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two on BBC Two. Len Goodman, Arlene Phillips, Craig Revel Horwood, and Bruno Tonioli returned as judges.

2008 - Series 6 facts and stats

Due to a scoring error which meant Tom & Camilla could not be saved from the Semi-Final dance-off by the public vote, there was no elimination at that stage and all 3 couples proceeded to the Final (Lisa & Brendan, Rachel & Vincent). Before the Quarter-Final of S21, Nigel Harman was injured and unable to dance, meaning for just the 2nd time ever the scheduled elimination was dropped and all contestants proceeded to the Semi-Final
After 4 weeks at the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard but saved by the public vote, John Sergeant announced his decision to withdraw due to concerns he might actually win. In Week 10 he & Kristina performed an unscored farewell Waltz – the only occasion we have seen a ‘goodbye’ dance by someone withdrawing
Series 6 consisted of 28 shows, more than any other Series
It could also be called the “Foxtrot Series”; all 3 Finalists performed a Foxtrot, two perfectly (Lisa & Brendan and Rachel & Vincent). In fact, all 3 perfect Strictly Foxtrots to date were performed in this Series as Rachel & Vincent achieved a double-40 with theirs
With the exception of Showdances (which all Finalists dance), S6 is one of two Series where 3 couples danced the same style in a Final, the Foxtrot. The next occasion was S20 when 3 pairs performed their Couple’s Choice
Rachel Stevens receives 25 tens taking her to the top of the female celebrities’ ’10s Podium’, where she will stay until 9 years later in Series 15 (2017) she is knocked off by Alexandra Burke, who receives 32 tens
