2014 - Series 12
Strictly Come Dancing returned for its twelfth series beginning from 7 September 2014 with a launch show, and the live shows began on 26 and 27 September. Tess Daly returned to present the main show on BBC One alongside Claudia Winkleman, who was promoted to co-presenter in addition to the results show after Sir Bruce Forsyth departed the show after the eleventh series; however, Forsyth continued to host the Christmas and Children in Need specials. Zoe Ball returned as presenter of the spin-off show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two on BBC Two.

- Winners Caroline and Pasha achieve 4 of the 5 perfect scores in this Series; 3 of these are in the Final making Caroline the first celebrity to score full marks in a Final not dropping a single point (120 where 3 routines are danced). The other two times this has been achieved were both in S16 when Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer both scored 120
- Caroline also improved her Week 1 Cha Cha Cha score of 23 by 17 points when she redanced it in the Final. This is one of just 3 perfect Cha Cha Chas on the show; the others were danced by Lisa & Brendan in S6 and Sarah & Vito in S22
- Head judge Len awards 22 tens this Series, the most he awards in 13 years
- Series 12 sees Bruce Forsyth replaced by Claudia Winkleman, though Zoe Ball stepped in for 3 weeks when one of Claudia’s children was injured in an accident
- The pro with the second highest average total score overall, Trent Whiddon (34.58) was a last-minute replacement for Robin Windsor who was unable to dance due to a pre-existing back injury
- Donnie Osmond joined as a guest judge for Movie Week (W3) and awarded the first ten of the Series to Frankie & Kevin for their West Side Story Paso Doble
- Movie Week will remain as a regular Week 3 special from now on
- Week 10’s Musicals Week is replaced by a special “Around the World” Week where couples performed dances influenced by the cultures of other countries; Caroline & Pasha topped the leaderboard with their Turkish-bazaar themed Charleston to ‘Istanbul (Not Constantinople)’ by They Might Be Giants and Sunday night’s results show sees the first Bollywood-inspired routine by the pros as they are joined by Bollywood dance group, Bolly Flex
