The judges loved last night’s Quicksteps scoring them the two highest dances of the evening – Richie and Giovanni sparkled and shone to a 32 only to be eclipsed by Molly and Carlos’ final dance of the night, a pastel perfect pairing with ‘umbrellaography’ which scored them a brilliant 34 and sent them to the top of the leaderboard with a combined W1 and W2 score of 65.

It’s the 24th time that a Quickstep has topped weekly scores, but only the second time in Strictly history that this particular dance has bagged the two top spots. The last time that happened was back in 2006 (Series 4, W2) when Emma Bunton and Darren Bennett scored 33 with Louisa Lytton and Vincent Simone second on 28. Back then, however, the format was different and couples all danced one of only two dances in early weeks of the show.

On Saturday night the Quicksteppers romped home with the judges, but will viewers agree? We look forward to finding out!
