  • StrictlyDB reflections and predictions podcast – Episode 1

After the rush of experiencing the first competitive show of the season, somebody at StrictlyDB suggested it might be fun to do a podcast for the team to share their reflections and predictions. Who was that? Catch them now and put them on the glittery naughty step!

Oh well, it’s too late, the podcast horse has already Samba’d out of the stable, and found it’s way to YouTube, so here it is…

Play our predictions game

As discussed in last week’s blog we will be playing a predictions game this Series and we would love you guys to play along and share your predictions and scores on socials or on the site.

It’s easy to play, you just have to predict:

  • Which celebrity will come TOP of the judge’s leaderboard on Saturday
  • Which celebrity will come BOTTOM of the judge’s leaderboard on Saturday
  • Which celebrity will be ELIMINATED after the dance-off on Sunday

The scoring works like this:

  • TOP –  the celebrity you predicted for the top gets a point or points if they come in one of the top three ranked positions on the Judge’s Saturday Leaderboard. They get 3 points if they come 1st, two points if they come 2nd, and 1 point if they come 3rd.
  • BOTTOM –  the celebrity you predicted for the bottom gets a point or points if they come in one of the bottom three ranked positions on the Judge’s Saturday Leaderboard. They get 3 points if they come last, two points if they come 2nd to last, and 1 point if they come 3rd to last.
  • JOINTLY RANKED SCORES – if one or more celebrities get the same score, they are jointly ranked in the same position. This means they get the same points. However following ‘Standard competition ranking rules‘ this then creates a gap (or gaps) in the ranked positions below them based on how many people are tied (Wikipedia explanation here).
  • ELIMINATION – if the celebrity you predicted for elimination does indeed get eliminated on the Sunday show – you get a point.
  • BONUS – if you correctly predicted the top (1st), bottom (last) and eliminated celebrities, you get an extra point (generous we know!)

StrictlyDB’s current scores

Week 1’s predictions from the team shaped up like this (remember there was no elimination):

The positions and scores shaped up like this up at the top of the leaderboard:

And like this at the bottom of the leaderboard:

That meant we scored like this:

  • Liv – 2 points for Sarah Coming 2nd to top.
  • James and Steve – Both get 2 points for Paul Merson coming 2nd to bottom.
  • Matt – absolutely nothing – useless!!!

This leaves the StrictlyDB team leaderboard currently looking like this:

Player Week 1 Total Position

JamesJames 2 2 1
Steve 2 2 1
Matt 0 0 4

Week 2 predictions

So what about week 2 – and what about elimination? Well the team shared their predictions in the podcast, and they look like this:

Steve Tasha on X.comTasha Paul on X.comPaul Pete on X.comPete

So what do you think? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Are the team sharing mirrorball pearls of wisdom or are they talking TV trash? Will Steve beat the experts, or will true Strictly nerd passion shine through? We’ll find out at the weekend. In the meantime, we’d love to hear your predictions so please do share them on our socials or here on the site.

Enjoy the show! We certainly will! COME ON SARAH!!!!
