2024 - Series 22 facts and stats
- Series 22 is the year of sensational centuries:
- 104 tens are awarded, the first time ever the tally tops 100 in a Series
- Aljaž and Karen both reach the milestone of 100 competitive couple dances, currently on 104 apiece
- Anton becomes the 6th judge to award 100 tens, his 100th goes to JB & Lauren for their Salsa; Craig will be the 7th to do so in the Final when he gives his 100th ten to Tasha & Aljaž for their Showdance
- Sarah & Vito’s Cha Cha Cha, the last dance of the Series, receives the 100th perfect score on the show
- Tasha takes top spot for highest average individual score (9.31) and highest average total score (37.25), overtaking Ashley Roberts (s16); she also topples Ashley & Alexandra from top of the “Most 10s” when she receives 33, one more than their total of 32 each
- 9 perfect scores awarded (the most in any Series, equalling S16 and S19); these go to Tasha & Aljaž (4), JB & Lauren (3), Sarah & Vito (1) and Chris & Dianne (1)
- In another Strictly first, at least one 10 was awarded to four different male celebrities: Pete (1); Jamie (5); Chris (12) and JB (28), meaning more male than female celebrities received a ten for only the 4th time ever
- The competitive group dance (‘marathon’), this time a Samba-thon, returns for the first time since S16’s Lindy Hop-a-thon; it is won by JB & Lauren who score 7 extra points. This also explains why 12 couples perform a Samba this year, more than any other Series
- Anton awards the joint-most tens in a Series ever, with 34 handed out; this was also the number awarded by Bruno in Series 16
- In the Final, JB becomes the first male celebrity to perform a perfect Viennese Waltz as well as the only celebrity to have topped the Leaderboard with two different partners (W1 with Amy, W7,8,10,11,12 and 13 with Lauren)
- Dianne wins on her third attempt with Strictly’s first ever blind contestant, Chris McCausland (she was also a Finalist with Joe in S16 and Bobby in S21). Dianne finally receives her first ten from Craig and therefore her first perfect score for her Waltz with Chris in the Final, for which they later won BAFTA’s “Memorable Moment” award in 2025
