Montell’s gone, Pete still lives on, and the team scored very similarly to each other this week. Three of us – James, Steve and Matt – got five points and  Liv got four. Interestingly we got those points in different ways….

No podcast this week folks as personal commitments meant half of the team weren’t around to record it. But fear not – through the power of such modern wizardry known as “electronic mail” (it’ll never catch on) – we have managed to collect our reflections and predictions in a blog…

It was the hardest week to call so far, and things are definitely getting interesting on the StrictlyDB predictions game leaderboard as Matt goes from zero to hero – a bit like Pete in the ballroom.

Not a bad scoring week for the team, and we were delighted to celebrate our second ‘Perfect Score’ as James called everything correctly and scored a perfect 8 (3 for top, 3 for bottom, 1 for elimination and 1 bonus for getting everything correct).

The StrictlyDB team are back again to review what we thought of last week’s episode (week 4) and play our predictions game (for week 5). Who will be top and bottom of the this Saturday’s leaderboard and who will be eliminated on Sunday?

Is it beginner’s luck or can his winning streak continue into Week 4?

Although a minority, male pros and female celebrities have held most of the two top spots on the judges’ leaderboards so far in 2024. This reflects a wider trend in which male pros dominate on almost every performance metric.

However, female pros win overall when it comes to Strictly’s most important statistic, and we think they can add to their tally in 2024.

As Sunday’s show came to a controversial close, we took time to reflect on how we did with our predictions. Little did we realise the controversy had only just begun…
